Interview with Performing Artist / Tash | Edition X
What is distinctive about your sound?
That’s a very interesting question. I’m very visual, so they would understand me through my show and photos which is dramatic, passionate and original. They don’t have to hear it but they will feel it.
What producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?
As far as producers Kwame is a huge inspiration to me. He has always been very giving and real with me. He’s a tell it like it is kinda guy & extremely creative. I love the SupaSonics as well. They’re on some other out of this world shit. And I love it! So helpful and talented. As far as writers my P.M.S (pre Madonna syndrome) partner Kyla Dreams inspires me. I wasn’t writing as much before her. She gets me to tap into other places. I love Kes Kaos as well. His ideas are priceless.
Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
I honestly love what I’m working on for my project. I’m able to show many sides of myself. Kyla Dreams & I are also working on a mixtape. It’ll showcase us both as artist & writers, it will be magical!
What was the main factor for launching your career when you did?
I’ve always loved music, so for me it was just something I had to get into. Its my destiny. Entertaining has been in my blood since childhood from performing at city center at 5 to singing & modeling through high school. Its breathing for me.
Who are some people you would like to work with?
To name a few I’d love to work with Mark Ronson, D’mile & Timberland. They all have different unique sounds. As far as artist Missy, Lady Gaga & Justin Timberlake. They’re risk takers.
How is the Internet changing your craft?
The Internet has definitely made changes in my career as well as the industry. Its harder for artist to sell records but easier to get in peoples faces. I feel like viral has helped me tremulously. I wouldn’t be known by as many people without it. So it has its pros & cons
Do you feel like what you are doing is important?
Of course! Music changes lives, it inspires, it makes us sad, it makes us dance. Music is everything.
Lastly, could you talk about any long-term goals or talents you have in mind?
Well, I strive for longevity. I have no intentions on being the next female act that falls off after a single or two so in my mind there are no limitations. If you can think it you can do it!
