When did you realize you wanted to become a designer and what was the first article of clothing you ever designed?

I have always wanted to do something in the lines of clothing designer wasn’t my first choice it was something I stumbled upon, Ive always been in love with clothing, not the name associations  but what each garment represents, the feeling that a Givenchy shirt gives you when you wear it or that Louis Vuitton Daimer bag that just makes you feel unstoppable I think that’s when I became in love with fashion and decided to show the world my truth. I believe the first piece I ever designed was a jean pocket hoody worst piece ever but I still hold it to this day to look at where I was and where I stand today.. Progress

How would you define your city’s fashion?

Houston is a much slower city when it comes to fashion, not in the sense of knowledge of great fashion and style but that everything is truly slower here..Brands dont really pay attention to the south in regards of fashion we get clothes later, have fewer boutiques and true places to find unique clothing outside of the mainstream mall and department stores. But there are always gems in the sand.

When you started out did you think it would be a serious business?

Serious business in the sense of being where we as a brand stand today?? Never in my wildest dreams, I knew my work ethic was there but as a designer you always wonder will people truly take on to and respect the product you put out and so far they have. This journey has been one of the most amazing experiences I could have ever asked for.

How is the internet changing your craft?

It is enhancing it and destroying it. I say enhancing it due to the fact that more ideas are shared globally leading to more innovative design and products, the fact that a small kid like myself from any rural town can become the next Jeremy Scott and show the world his craft whereas ten years ago this was very difficult to impossible. But than I come to the drawback of the internet and social media.. there is no more gate keeping back years ago blogs where very exclusive and rare something only the devout and knowledgeable were doing, now since tumblr has came an in flux or horrible, non quality products are seeping through daily, making every product now seem to be a trend instead of original.. Tumblr has killed the Original Design.

Your concepts are very unique and original is there a pressure to
always maintain that consistency with your new designs?

Always never pressure from competition because I have to be focused on my style of branding in design , but pressure from myself to innovate I have a mind that is never pleased and I feel that that will always lead me to pus the envelope of design.

Do you consider yourself an artist?

I think we all do (All meaning we as humans) artist in some way, daily we craft right?? In my eyes if you take a minute out of your day to show the world your truth, your craft, your mind, your art than your an artist, an artist isnt limited to painting, music, dance its a mindset that we all encompass to show the world our what we see daily in our minds.

Who are some people you want to interact with this year?
I would love to travel the world and meet not only celebrities but people Ive met through my journeys Anna Wintour tops my list her mind is amazing, Vashtie, Pharrell Williams,  just innovative minds.

Lastly, could you talk about any long-term goals you have in mind?
I envision daily LaVita transitioning into a global lifestyle brand, I want this brand to continue to innovate in design, grown in our global awareness and ultimately provide people with great, quality clothing.
