Cover Interview with She’s Ryan
Name: She’s RYAN
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Describe your sound as if we were deaf
It’s so easy to say my music is “different” or “eclectic” even. A deaf person wouldn’t be able to hear that. So I can honestly say that I create strong, melodious music. Super rhythmic, sometimes choppy, and trill, but other times mellow, and bright. Depends on how I feel, and how the beat grabs me. Listening to my first project, you’d think I’m Bipolar, hence the name of my first big single 😉
What producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?
Slimmy Neutron, Rick Rubin, The Dream, Sean Garrett, Missy Elliot, Timbaland, NeYo, Sade, Aaliyah, Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Janelle Monae, Kelis.
Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
THIS IS MY FIRST PROJECT! SO thus, this is my favorite for now. I’m excited, and completely ready to release it to the world.
What was the main factor for launching your career when you did?
The main factor for launching this career are honestly obvious signs. I’ve been singing/dancing/performing since elementary school. I played the clarinet, and sang in every school chorus while growing up. My singing coach at the time was the same woman who was coaching Britney Spears, and for some reason, no matter what, I NEVER had stage fright. I’ve pursued careers in graphic design and communications, as well as photography, and I was just never fulfilled. Although I was good at it, I knew what I was truly meant to do. And I am truly a performer and personality. A woman who loves to sing, entertain, and most importantly, inspire.
Who are some people you would like to work with?
The people I’d love to work with, are the same people I’ve listed above as my inspirations. The legends such as Missy Elliot, and Timabaland would be a perfect match for me, and I cannot wait until they hear my music, and feel my message. I feel the day coming soon.
How is the internet changing your craft?
I can’t say that the internet is changing my craft particularly. I’m just going with the times. 20 years ago, social media wasn’t even an option to see if an artist had the POTENTIAL to be successful in the music/media/entertainment industry. But now it is. And I’m not mad at all. I’m not for complaining, and making a fuss with the big time executives who may or may not be interested in me about one of their concerns being if ‘She’s Ryan’ has a strong social media presence or not. Quite frankly, I’m going to make the best of it. If the internet is the source of someone in England and Tokyo listening to my music, and reposting my modeling images, by all means, I’ll log onto twitter/facebook and promote myself whenever I can. At the end of the day, what am I really LOSING by doing this? The internet rocks!
Do you feel like what you are doing is important?
I not only feel, but I KNOW what I’m doing is important. The small amount of people who I have inspired at this time alone, has shown me and those around me that I’m doing this for a reason. The women who email me, the people who run up to me in the street, the little autographs I have signed after shows or on sets of videos. These are all signs. If I can inspire people to do better, my job is done. I want to show any and everyone, that you can literally DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. You CAN live out your dreams to the fullest, you just have to believe in yourself. Thats really all it is.
Lastly, could you talk about any long-term goals or talents you have in mind?
I can say that I’m going to be a world wide entertainer. A singer and performer who is known for pushing the envelope with everything she does. But immediately, after reading this I can say that my long term goal WHILE being an awesome pop star, is acting. I’m doing small roles now, but I just know I’m going to have a lead role in a movie. A comedy, a drama, maybe even a gory horror flick. I’ve realized that hosting, and performing regularly go hand in hand with acting. But I’d love to take it to the next level and do what I know I’m capable of. Will Smith and Jamie Foxx have both done it. I will too. Music, acting, and modeling.
