Describe your sound as if we were deaf
Raw, Emotional, Яebellious

What producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?
Linda Jones/ Phillis Hyman/ 2Pac/ Billie Holiday/ Ella Fitz/ Sarah Vaughan/ Nina Simone/ Donnie Hathaway/ Prince/ Chaka Khan/ Sade/ Whitney Houston/ D’ Angelo/ Mary J/ Erykah Badu/ Lauryn Hill/ Jill Scott/ Nas/ Jay-Z/ Diana Ross/ The Emotions/ En-Vouge/ Kim Burell/ Karen Clarke/ Su Su Bobien/ Barbra Streisand/ Melonie Daniels

Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
My upcoming Ep “s[HE]s br[OK]en” is my favorite thus far… truly some of the best work I’ve done to date.

What was the main factor for launching your career when you did?
I have ALWAYS known what I wanted to do with my life and career. I’ve been, super focused and so sure about my path from a young age that I can’t really recall a particular “launching time” (aka – I been about this life). Looking back, I’d have to say winning ‘Platinum Hit’ was my “big launch” but that was all God’s timing. I had been working very hard prior to the show, I released Lady Яebel Vol 1., shot a bunch of viral videos that were creating a lot of dope buzz and had just started taking meetings with the majors when BRAVO Tv (via Platinum Hit) literally fell in my lap!

Who are some people you would like to work with?
Kanye West, Salaam Remi, Nas, Jay-z, The Dream, TDE (Ab Soul, Kendrick Lamar, SchoolBoy Q), Fun, Vampire Weekend, Solange, Nicki Manij.

How is the internet changing your craft?
The Internet has made it easier to connect and keep up with my fan-base (my Rebs) no matter where they’re at in the world. It has made it possible for me to do shows and link with some pretty amazing musicians/producers/people outside of the states. Social networking is also very inspiring… as a writer i’m always on the prowl for unique ways to describe very common feelings, emotions and situations. Everything from twitter rants to psychedelic tumblr posts’ spark my fire and creative process!

Do you feel like what you are doing is important?
What I’m doing is Very important… Im writing and singing my heart out, simply because music is my own therapy! I literally create to not go crazy. To express my deepest, most honest feelings about the shit i’ve been through or i’m going through is so freeing! Secondly, It’s a blessing to be able to heal others with my story. It also helps to know that we all go through similar if not the same exact things.

Lastly, could you talk about any long-term goals or talents you have in mind?
Along with singing / rapping / songwriting, I’d also love to act! Movies and Broadway are definitely on the list. I’ve been acting since my grammar school days. I’d like to write and direct movies, television series and plays as well.
