Interview with Moxiie
• Performing Artist •
Describe your sound as if we were deaf:
My sound is life and love’s gray area, it’s conflict, It’s pain, and truth filtered through my Haitian & Brooklyn roots.
What producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?
My primary inspiration isn’t in any one person. I am inspired by Daniel Arsham, and Kev Kills at the moment though.
Do you have a favorite musical project that you’ve worked on?
My favorite musical project to work on is always the next one. I love what I’m doing in the moment, then I grow and the last thing seems deficient in some ways.
What was the main factor for launching your career when you did?
The main factor for launching my career as an artist is somewhere between happiness & destiny.
Who are some people you would like to work with?
I’d like to work with Chris Martin. After seeing him at the Rock n Roll induction ceremony at Barclays I see him in a new light. He’s really cool.
How is the internet changing your craft?
The internet isn’t changing my craft. Technology assists being able to demo ideas. As far as the craft, I tend to cut back on the net.
Do you feel like what you are doing is important?
I feel like what I’m doing is completely necessary. I do feel like it’s important and sometimes I just feel crazy.
Lastly, could you talk about any long-term goals or talents you have in mind?
Long term, I hope to connect with my role in Haiti…with a truly reputable & charitable organization to help rebuild. I’d like to mentor/sign one special artist one day. I have an idea for a program for immigrants moving to the U.S. I’d like to develop one day and a program to build self esteem and spark interest in more than the entertainment business among disadvantaged teens. So many things I want to do.
